Bio & Backstory

Rin is 31 years old, and currently works as a Botany professor at Tamlore College, a larger community college in the city of Tamlore that he and my other OCs exist in. He is a Direwolf and Maine Coone mix, and stands at a massive 9 feet (2.74m) tall!

From a young age, Rin was completely inept at Weaving, the form of spellcasting in his world. While most individuals are able to do at least bare minimum Weaving, Rin is only able to conjure freyed threads and do magical feats that would only be impressive as a toddler. This lead to him focusing on more physical talents, interfacing with the world around him through more traditinoal means than magical ones. A combination of this and his Direwolf genetics have lead to him being freakishly strong as early as his teenage years.

In his early teens, seeing the issues plaguing his neighborhood, Rin and his sibling Ren made the shortsighted decision to sign on with a local organized crime group, having the idea that they could rise through the ranks and use the acquired power and influence to benefit the people around them. While they did see some success with this goal, a mixture of criminal and police corruption lead to an extremely traumatic event that lead to both of them leaving organized crime with various physical injuries and traumas. For Rin, he was shot several times, once near-fatally in the heart. He still has the bullet lodged into his chest to this day, a result of rapid healing magics sealing the bullet into place.

As stated above, Rins current profession is teaching. He works as a Botany professor at the local community college, and as an assistant professor to various other classes in the natural sciences. He lives in the campus faculty housing, but due to his connections to the Board of Directors, which his mother holds a high level seat on, he is generally disliked and seen as a form of nepotism amongst the school staff.

Rin's biggest hobbies include caring for a small botanical garden he houses in the second bedroom of his faculty dorm, and cooking. Alongisde these, he enjoys writing, animal watching at the parks and woods outside of the city, exploring various restaurants, and occasionally attending small book clubs or painting social events to meet new people, though he does not have much artistic skill currently.

Rin's biggest dislikes are corporations (due to the damage they cause to nature), the police, bigotry of any kind, driving (cramped for his size), and being talked down to.
